Two At The Border

'Two At The Border' is a short documentary about two human smugglers at the border between Turkey and Greece. Their job gets increasingly difficult as Greek and European authorities strenghten the porous border by a 13 km fence and by thousands of officers, trying to barricade the EU against illegal immigration. Ultimately, it all looks pretty abysmal for both the men and their mostly syrian clients alike, as far fewer of these refugees are making it into Greece.

A Kurdish woman is sentenced to six years of house arrest. The charge: supporting terrorist activities. Her older son is torn between obedience and rebellion. How far is he ready to go to protect her?

The "Pam Movie Theatre" is not only the smallest in the lower Bavarian town Passau, but also the most peculiar. Clearly, it would have ceased to exist if not for this exceptional 81 year-old man.

A rescue centre for reptiles in Munich becomes the intersection of a Syrian refugee turtle and a German sergeant - a film in the midst of glass terrariums about animals, mankind and war.
